Mr. Tomlin and I have been discussing the arrangements for his comfort during the journey East of Suez. It is absolutely necessary that with regard to the officers' comfort, some alterations be made. I have therefore directed Mr. Tomlin to proceed to the Colony by the SS "Niangtse" which sails on the 4th instant. A cabin has been secured for him and his family on board this vessel. The cost to the Government of Hong Kong at the expense of £156.10.0 has been incurred.
